Meeting Stephen Nachmanovitch!

„We are all improvisers”.

– Stephen Nachmanovitch, „Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art”.

During my visit to the United States, I had the wonderful opportunity to reunite with numerous improv friends whom I had initially connected with during the pandemic. Additionally, this visit allowed me to forge new friendships and solidify existing bonds. Among the numerous highlights of this unprecedented pandemic period was the chance to conduct an interview with STEPHEN NACHMANOVITCH! Click here to listen to out talk.

Few days ago I had a wonderful occasion to spend a day with none other than Stephen Nachmanovitch, an improviser, a prominent author, computer artist, educator, and lecturer.

In the 1970s he became a pioneer in free music expressionism on acoustic and electric violin and viola, opening up many extended techniques. He studied at Harvard and the University of California-Berkeley, where he earned a Ph.D. in the History of Consciousness on an exploratory theme based on the writings of William Blake.

????Stephen is an author of great books every improviser should read: “Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art” and “The Art of IS”.????

These are my very favorite books about improvisation. If you haven’t read them yet I highly recommend them as well as the beautiful music Stephen records and produces.

Stephen is also going to release soon a new album so check this online soon.

Thank you Stephen for the wonderful day! You made the dream come true! ????????????????
